While reading Granitsas Americans Are Tuning Out the World i noticed that it was very short and writing a page on it would be kind of difficult. After reading Americans Are Tuning Out the World I feel like I can totally agree with it, because everyone wants to be like an American and everyone wants to come here. For What? Remember before 9/11, the Asian tsunami, SARS, the bird flu, people didn’t really take that much interest towards America. Now today people will do anything just to get a job or even visit America. Whether it’s working at a seven eleven or maybe even being an illegal immigrant. People travel even less more to other countries and students taking foreign languages are down in percentages. Since 1960s more than 20 million immigrants have come to America, that’s more than Ellis Island and Plymouth Rock Pilgrims. I believe that everyone is immigrants in America and soon it will just be a place full of more immigrants. Immigrants are helping the economy, just like earlier in class when you said in that movie, when all the Mexicans left and they accounted for a lot of work.

 

America will just continue to grow with immigrants and there is nothing we can do about, they are needed to bring something new to the US form a different perspective. I think the government will soon try to slow down the process of them coming to America. I wonder why Immgrants dont go to England like they come to America, to me England is just like the US but its just smaller. Immigrants come over here because its huge and they get to choose where they want to love. They can either choose the South if they like hot weather or the northeast if they are use to cold weather. America is a home to all immigrants across the world.

America is the “shining city on the hill” and the rest of the world really has nothing to offer. The Us is getting less engaged with the rest of the world, and we are becoming more of “isolationist”. The news covering for foreign news fell in half and dropped to about 21 percent.
