Guest Speakers from Africa

Out of all the guest speakers that came to the class i feel like i gathered the most information from the guest speakers from Africa. Simi from Nigeria always kept a smile on her face and it made me get more interested in what she had to say, Nigeria is one of the most popular countries in Africa and she is from the Yoruba tribe. She answered my question to what kind of music she likes and it was hip-hop. I also learned that the children are named seven days after the day of their birth because of low life rates. When someones passes away in Nigeria, its the total opposite of how America does funerals. People aren’t dressed in black, they wear bright colors, people don’t mourn the death, they celebrate that person going to a better place.

Bonolo from Botswana which is located in the South of Africa and has about 1.9 Million people. Botswana is also one of the richest countries in Africa and gained its independence September 1966. The official language is Setswanna and English. they were also one of the first countries to produce Diamonds. Bonolo attended the University of Botswana, and believes that people of America are more to their selves. People of Botswana are more friendly and greeting is always necessary and if it isn’t done it is looked at as rude.
